Well, another fantastic Chiller Theatre convention has gone by. What a fun
time it was!The guest list was one of the best I have seen in the ten years I have been going - There was someone for everyone. The likes of Batman Adam West was on hand. Charles Napier from Silence of the Lambs truly a wonderful man, founding member of the Doors Ray Manzarek, Man From Uncle star Robert Vaughn and also many old Chiller favorites returned such as the lovely Linda Blair, Butch Patirck and the list goes on and on.
My favorites of course,
in addition to those mentioned, were the Irwin Allen cast members.
Chiller's
favorite son from LIS, Mark Goddard was joined by Land of the Giants' Don Marshall,
Deanna Lund, and making her first Chiller appearance, the lovely, beautiful
Heather Young - what a doll! In addition. the legend himself, David Hedison from
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea was there as was another Chiller first time
guest - Time Tunnel's James Darren. WOW!
This truly was a Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen. All gathered together under one roof, or tent I should say in NJ. I sat with Mark Goddard and assisted him through the three day convention. I also lent a hand to the LOG cast members as needed. I enjoyed my visit seeing David Hedison as always again who signed two of my original Aurora kits, one of the Seaview the one of the Flying Sub. Always a pleasure.
Also my visit with James Darren was very nice. He was selling copies of The Man From
The 25th Century scripts autographed. Did I buy one? Well, take a guess.
The Irwin Allen panel on Saturday consisted of the LOG cast and Mark Goddard as MC. It all went very well as the room was standing room only! What fun it was hearing stories from the LOG cast members and, of course, Mark Goddard.
As Sunday came to an end it was time to say my goodbyes to everyone. A truly fun weekend had passed and many more memories gathered. If you have not experienced a Chiller, you truly are missing the best convention in the country. Make plans to attend the October one. The dates are October 25-27 at the Meadowlands Sheraton. You can check the Chiller site at for more info or keep checking back here at LIS Memories for updates.
My Best,
Ray Dutczak
