Slanted
Fedora: Philadelphia
Well I just returned from a Slanted Fedora convention in Philadelphia, where I assisted our favorite Major - Mark Goddard.
Fans turned out from as far as Portland, Oregon to attend this event.
Although mainly a Star Trek convention,
Mark was very well received by everyone in attendance. He signed autographs
and smiled, taking many photos with his fans. I showed Mark the blue prints for
the Jupiter 2, and he yelled across the room and had Space Shuttle commander
Rick Searfoss come over to the table, and the two pilots discussed exactly how
the heck you actually would launch the Jupiter 2. I was honored to have also
Commander Searfoss sign my Jupiter 2 blueprints as well.
The afternoon brought the classic Trek folks out to sign for the fans. Mark
was kind enough to have Walter Koenig and George Takei sign a beautiful shot for
me. It's not Lost in Space, but I do love my classic Trek!
Saturday night Promoter Dave Scott had a dinner for the fans with the
celebrity guests as he does at all of his
conventions. This was very well attended - 350 people were on hand for it. Also on Saturday, Mark had a
Q+A session
in a packed
auditorium about the possible LIS reunion TV movie. Interest was piqued
and everyone coming to Mark at his table asked for more details.
Mark also commented on the rumor of LIS coming to DVD very soon. He added how this would be a wonderful
way for all the LIS fans to have the entire run of episodes uncut.
All in all this was a wonderful convention.
I hope you enjoy the pictures that my pal Dave Goudsward took of this event.
