March/April 2001 News
By: Ray Dutczak
Well, March and April were very busy months as far as conventions are
concerned. LIS cast members traveled to MegaCon in Orlando, Florida in March,
and then to FrightVision in Cleveland, Ohio.
This is the first time the whole living cast has gotten together for two conventions in the same
year! They were very well received at both conventions where lines were endless at times.
I managed to sit with Jonathan Harris at both conventions which is always a treat for me.
Jonathan is a masterful story teller and I cherish our friendship so dearly. The cast were honored
and presented with special plaques at the FrightVision Convention. One from Carl Thompson the
promoter of FrightVision. And the other from me, on behalf of LIS Memories. They were very deeply
touched. All in all both of these conventions were a "great" success!
On April 27-29, Jonathan Harris, Mark Goddard and Vitina Marcus attended the
Chiller Convention. The convention had another record attendance, which says
something for Kevin Clement, the Farnum B of the Convention scene as I call
him, lol.
Once again I sat with the "great" one, Jonathan Harris and once again
this man signed and signed and signed. Mark Goddard, Chiller's favorite son,
and Vitina Marcus were very pleasant to all who visited them as well. I mean,
would Chiller be fun without the Major? -- don't think so!
On Saturday Jonathan had a Q+A and I presented him with a plaque from Kevin Clement,
myself and everyone associated with Chiller. Jonathan loved it. He answered a
ton of questions and told some "great" stories. Chiller is my favorite
convention to attend and if you haven't been to one yet, try and attend the
next one (which will be held the weekend of October 26-28). You will love it!
I am working on something very special for this show, and I will keep everyone
informed through LIS Memories, of course. You can also check out the official Chiller website
at www.chillertheatre.com for more info as well. If you didn't have a chance to attend
these three conventions mentioned, you can see photos of these three conventions
at the convention section. Dave Goudsward, webmaster extraordinaire, took almost all of
these photos, so many thanks to him once again.
Speaking of Dave, he is working on giving LIS Memories a whole new
look. We are calling the new site LIS Memories, a new beginning, so look for
it soon. I will be in Novi, MI at the Motor City Comic Con on May 18-20, where Bob
May, Marta Kristen, and June Lockhart will be guests. Hope to see some of
you there. You can get more info at my convention section by pressing on the Motor
City convention link.
