June 2001 News

Well, here we are  - The 4th of July  and our Country celebrates 225 years of Independence. Fantastic!

I hope all are enjoying their day. I would like to thank everyone for their continuing support of LIS Memories, and Irwin Allen Memories - you fans have made both websites a great success!

On the LIS front, Mark Goddard, Bob May, June Lockhart and yours truly will be heading to San Diego to take part in this year's San Diego Comic Con. Classics Reborn will also be on hand with a few surprises. If you can't make the show, don't forget we have a  full section on Classics Reborn on this site. From what I hear from June Lockhart, this is the biggest show in the country. I can't wait! Mark should do well at Comic Con since this is a very rare West Coast appearance for him. I hope many fans reading this plan on attending. The show dates are July 19-22.

Speaking of June, her birthday just passed,  June 25th. She turned...   I phoned her on her birthday to wish her a happy one and we had a nice conversation. It was wonderful. Dave put up a message board here at LIS Memories for June where fans could send birthday messages to her. We printed out the messages and sent them to her. She was very touched!

Speaking of birthdays, Mark Goddard has a birthday coming up July 24th. Dave has set up a new message board at LIS Memories where you can add your birthday greetings for the Major. These messages will be sent to Mark in a birthday card for him to read, so I urge all to sign.

My new Internet message list with Yahoo is doing very well. In just a little over a month, almost 70 members and 1,000 messages! Seems everyone on the list loves talking about LIS and Irwin Allen productions in general. If you need quick fix of LIS or IA, I recommend you join this new venture. More "fans meeting fans" is our goal and keeping the legacy of Irwin Allen going is our objective.

Anyone watching LOG on the SCI-FI Channel? I hear the prints are pretty good, but they l seem to be rather severely edited to fir more commercials in. Unfortunately, there's still no sign of LIS being aired any time soon! VTTBOTS is also airing (just before LOG), so things could be worse.

Bill Mumy and the Jenerators will be playing at Rusty's Surf Ranch on Santa Monica Pier July 21.  I have yet to see Bill's band play but I hear they are very good. Also on the Mumy front, Bill's new fan club newsletter is now out. Glennda Kountz, the fan club president does one hell of a job with the fan club. Her newsletters are always packed with a ton of information in them about Bill, and fans all around the World! Fan clubs are very hard to run and I give Glennda a lot of credit in keeping this beautiful fan club going and not giving up like many presidents do. I am proud to be a member. Good going Glennda! If anyone would like to join the Bill Mumy fan club they can do so at www.billmumyfanclub.com

One more Mumy note, Dave has added some cool photos of Bill being transformed into Dr. Smith from the episode Space Destructors. I dug deep into the Dutczak archives for these photos and they are truly a highlight my LIS photo collection. I hope all will take a look at them.

So that's it for now. In my next report I will give you guys the scoop on how San Diego Comic Con went, complete with photos. Also coming soon, more episode memories from Giants in the Earth, and No Place to Hide as Mark Goddard takes us back to 1965. So stay tuned for that and much more.  PLEASE, don't forget to sign my guest book as all your comments are very much appreciated!

LIS Forever,
Ray Dutczak
