Irwin Allen News - November 2000
Hi everyone, and welcome to my first installment of Irwin Allen happenings
around the world. In this section, I will try to bring everyone up to date of
all happenings of Irwin Allen fandom.
Convention Highlights
This past October, we had a few Irwin Allen TV show cast members show up at
the Chiller Theatre Show, in Secaucus, NJ. Among the guests were David
Hedison from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lee Meriwether from the Time
Tunnel, Don Marshall from Land of the Giants, Bob May and Mark Goddard from
Lost In Space.
The convention itself had record-breaking crowds. It was nice seeing David
Hedison, as he always is a joy to be around. I also had the pleasure of
meeting Don Marshall and Lee Meriwether for the first time. They were fun to
chat with, as they reminisced about their time working for Irwin Allen. Bob
May and Mark Goddard were also on hand from LIS, and they were treated lovely
at Chiller.
If anyone would like to see the Chiller Theater web site, please go to
www.chillertheatre.com for more info on future shows.
Television Airings
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is now being shown on the sci-fi channel at
7:00 am EST. The episodes are pretty cut, but I guess watching Voyage on
sci-fi is a way of keeping the show alive.
Magazine Articles
Film facts 80-82. The recent issue of film facts has beautiful article
running on Voyage the Bottom of the Sea. Ray Didsbury's interview and article
contains many rare behind the scene photos and publicity stills from Voyage
to the Bottom the Sea. This article and interview itself contains much info,
as he remembers adventures both above and below the sea.
That's it for this segment of I.A. News, until next time.
