LIS News- November 2000
Mid Ohio Comic Con
By: Ray Dutczak
I attended the Comic Con in Columbus, Ohio, at the Hilton Columbus. This
convention featured June Lockhart, Bill Mumy, Angela Cartwright, Yvonne
Craig, and John Provost. The convention itself was very well attended for the 2 day event,
considering it was Thanksgiving weekend.
I sat with Bill at the convention, where he June, and Angela were very well
received. When these three get together, there are some great conversations about LIS happenings.
June spoke of the movie she just finished in Prague, called "Au Pair II". She had
a lot of fun in Prague, and she really enjoyed herself. Most of all, she enjoys
meeting her fans at conventions such as this one.
On Saturday there was a Q&A which featured June, Bill, and Angela, and also
John Provost from "Lassie". At the Q&A, the fans in attendance had many
questions to ask the panel. The questions were very cordially answered by all
involved.
The cast were asked questions about if they would be in a future LIS project
that might be in the works. Bill answered that he would enjoy portraying Will
Robinson once again. Angela and June were equally enthusiastic about
appearing in a future LIS project. Both the panel and the audience considered the
Q&A a success.
Sunday equally had a good crowd on hand. Bill and Angela signed lots and lots
of autographs, and they answered many questions put before them. Angela told
many fans about her recent trip to Salzburg, Austria to shot a documentary
remembering "The Sound of Music".
She talked about how she and the other Von Trapp kids visited the places where they
shot various scenes from "The Sound of Music". This brought back many
memories for everyone. This movie is a cult classic, and it has been released
on dvd. If you have a chance to see this movie on dvd, there isn't anything
like it - with all the bonus footage and goodies that go along with it.
All in all, the Mid Ohio comic Con was a fun convention attend, and I highly
recommend attending a future event. Roger Price puts on a classy show, and on
behalf of June, Bill, Angela and myself, we want to thank him for having us
out at his convention.
