| Irwin Allen News September 2005. |
Were has time gone? September upon us already! Labor Day here!!!! I hope everyone had a great summer. I spent most of my time away from the computer enjoying Summer with my Kids. Now that Fall, and eventually Winter will be here. Time to get back to typing on the keyboard again.
I received a telephone call from Kevin Burns yesterday Labor Day. He wanted to fill me in on what was going on I.A. wise since our last conversation a few weeks ago.
Irwin Allen DVD news:
1 Time Tunnel - will be broken up into 2 sets and re-mastered in HD. Extras
to be included are the unaired pilot, some of Irwin's home movies taken on the
set( we got a taste of these on the FW of I.A.) along with rare still photos
along with some other goodies.
2 Land of the Giants - Will be broken up into 4 volumes. Once again,
re-mastered in HD included will be the RARE un-aired pilot ( going to be nice to
finally get a good copy of this. Irwin home movies taken on the set along with
many rare stills and again, other goodies.
3 Voyage - 8 volumes- re-mastered in HD Two unaired pilots. Kevin said that
there are yes, 2 unaired pilots that will be included Irwin home movies
filmed on the set. Bloopers, Irwin intro for the series and a bunch more.
4 Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, and Beyond Poseidon will also be
making it to DVD re-mastered in HD with bonus stuff.
Kevin is working very hard and has already begun to pull materials for
everything listed above. I will stay on top of this via Kevin and give you guys
updates as I get them.
Toys and cd's- A giant Pez Robot is also in the works. It will feature the upper half of the Robot and will light up and speak. Dick Tufeld has already recorded lines for the Robot to say like " Danger, Danger Pez collector approaching. I knew about the Pez Robot and was told about it a while ago but didn't want to post anything about it until it was a done deal. Also, a company in England will be releasing dicast figures of the Seaview, Flying Sub, and Spindrift which should be neat. Also in the works is a new LIS cd which will feature music from Welcome Stranger.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Soul: Bill Mumy's graphic novel has had a little bit of a delay. But, never fear, the novel will be released soon as some loose ends are being tied up before release. Bill and Bubble head publishing want us the LIS fans to have the very best so in their efforts to do so there has been a slight delay. In the meantime, don't forget to check out the Bubble head publishing killer web site for updates.
On the Convention front: Three great conventions coming up in the near future. The first being Chicago Land Collectors Expo which will be held in Chicago September 16-18 Mark Goddard will be a guest. Next is the granddaddy of all conventions which is the Chiller Theatre convention October 28-30 which is held in East Rutherford NJ. Along with Mark Goddard attending there will also be a very special I Dream of Jennie reunion with Barbara Eden, Bill Daily, and Larry Hagman. On the weekend of November 4-6 Bob May throws his hat into the promoters ring and will be sponsoring a convention in Van Nuys California called Global Sci-Fi Expo. Bob along with Mark Goddard, Deanna Lund, and Don Matheson will be on hand to meet and greet fans along with a whole slew of guests. This will be a fun show and I recommend everyone attend! There will be a banquet with celebrities so I recommend everyone get their tickets now as this will definitely sell out.
So, that's about all the news for now. If anything comes up news worthy I will definitely post it here at LIS Memories.
All my best,
Ray Dutczak
