Summer  2002
By: Ray Dutczak

Hello - it's me,

It has been too long a time since I sat down to write - so here goes. It's the end of July and we are into the swing of summer. Boy, has it been hot here in NY! The temperature hit 98 degrees yesterday and it was a scorcher!

Just a few LIS bits of news to share with you guys. Looks like LIS will be coming to DVD in April 2003. I read an email on the Internet from Kevin Burns saying that Fox has finally agreed to make them. I truly hope they are done the proper way with cliffhangers etc. If you remember, Fox put out twelve LIS episodes back in 98 - all out of sequence. The prints were very nice but the marketing was terrible. I hope the same mistake isn't made this time.

LIS Movie news: Is it going to happen? Lots of conflicting stories. Last I heard NBC was revising an LIS script that was submitted to them that would have some or all of the classic cast participate. Essentially a new cast would take over and carry the torch for LIS into the future. My opinion is this: If it happens it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Guy Williams and Irwin Allen are both gone and they played important roles in LIS fandom. How do you make a remake without Guy? Only time will tell.

Anyone see June Lockhart on the Drew Carey show back in May? She played Ryan Styles' character's mom on the show and was reunited with other TV icons like Marion Ross, Phyllis Diller and Adrienne Barbeau. June did a wonderful job! Also in May June made an appearance on the Weakest Link game show winning a few bucks for charity. June continues to stay busy.

June, Mark Goddard, and Bob May attended the Ray Courts show in LA the weekend of June 28 - 29. Record attendance was set at that show, which in addition to our LIS stars featured celebs such as Barbara Eden and Jamie Farr. Ray Courts puts on a pretty good show out in LA with many hard to meet celebrities in attendance.

The Jonathan Harris biography that was made a few months ago should be out soon. I spoke to Jonathan recently and he told me he would let me know when it would air. Keep checking back here at LIS Memories for an update. Jonathan also just finished a voiceover on a commercial for Disneyland. He remarked that working with Disney is always a lot of fun. Jonathan will be at the Ray Courts Twilight Zone Convention at the Beverly Garland Hotel August 24 and 25. I will be in LA that week and will be assisting Jonathan at the convention. Anyone in the area, please stop by and say hi.

Angela Cartwright, Bill Mumy, and Mark Goddard all attended the May Motorcity Comic Con. There was a pretty good attendance that weekend and the three of them were very well received. I believe this was Bill's first MC comic con and Angela's and Mark's second.

Marta Kristen is doing great. I spoke to her last week and she is spending a lot of time with her granddaughter Lena, who is out of school for the summer. Always great to talk to Marta.

I also spoke to Dick Tufeld recently. He is doing well and wishes everyone the very best. I hope to be doing an interview for LIS Memories very soon with Richard which will be posted to LIS Memories.

Well, I guess that's it for now. My wife Silvia is doing wonderfully keeping Casa Dutczak in order (and me and Taylor in line). Taylor is growing so fast and starts school this September. Boy does time Fly!

Until next time, Lost In Space Forever!
