Summer 2003 Update
By: Ray Dutczak

Hello to everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. We have had a warm summer in New York but not a scorcher,  which is wonderful after such a rainy Spring! My daughter Taylor starts first grade this year - I am proud yet sad at how quickly she is growing up.

The big news around here is that the Official Licensed Irwin Allen Fan Club has launched and we are working on getting the club packets together. By mid-August, they should be done and memberships will be made available. I must take a moment to thank Kevin Burns and Sheila Allen for making this all come true. They have been so supportive of everything and with their help, we will be able to put a killer fan club together!

Irwin's star campaign for the Hollywood Walk Of Fame is going strong. His application was submitted  and I got a call from the Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce a few weeks ago asking for a letter from Sheila Allen stating that it was acceptable to her  to consider Irwin for the honor. Naturally, a letter was immediately submitted by Sheila (once again thank you, Kevin Burns). Now, we sit and wait anxiously to see what happens next. BTW, next year will be the thirty year anniversary for the Towering Inferno. How cool would it be if Irwin was to get his star next year?

I attended the Monsters Among Us convention over the July Fourth weekend. From LIS, Bob May, Marta Kristen, and Mark Goddard attended. From LOTG, Don Marshall attended. We had Kevin Burns' robot on display at the convention. The crowd was light but it was a fun show anyway. I will have pictures from the convention up soon.

Here is a little news via Kevin Burns. This is the good stuff!

1. Jason Tufeld, Dick's grandson is doing an internship by working for Kevin.

2.  Fox just sent Kevin the first two LIS discs for approval. There will be 8 discs in the first season box set, with limited bonus material. Some of the limited bonus material will include the CBS presentation reel, and the original Network Promo Spot. If sales are good for season 1, then Fox will allocated additional money for bonus material on the season 2 and 3 sets.

3. The Rittenhouse cards are gorgeous!  Kevin just got finished approving the preview cards. They look beautiful. Kevin has helped them with many many images. Mostly never seen before.

4.  No deal with Manetron yet.

5. Kevin is close to finalizing a deal with Fox concerning a Voyage big budget movie. A few loose ends need to be tied up.

Well that's it for now. Please keep checking back for updates as a lot of neat things are starting to happen in the Fantasy Worlds Of Irwin Allen!

With warmest regards,
Ray Dutczak
