Jonathan Harris
- Strangely enough, I have very few memories of Fugitives in
Space. I remember that Michael Conrad and I hated the convict costumes. They
were very hot to work in under the lights. I also remember Michael hated the
makeup as it took so long to apply. John Chambers was the man who came up
with the makeup design which was a prototype for Planet of the Apes. Ezra
Stone directed the episode and I had worked with Ezra before, a dear man.
Probably, it was not a memorable episode. Other episodes I remember vividly.
Mark Goddard
- I enjoyed Fugitives in Space. It was one of my favorite
episodes. I knew Michael Conrad from the Actors Studio. However, I never got
a chance to see him out of makeup when we shot this episode.

- Fugitives in Space is a wonderful episode. Any episode that
featured my two favorite LIS characters, Dr Smith and Don West, is a winner in
my book. Michael Conrad does a fine job as Creech and the makeup he wears was
indeed, as Jonathan said, a prototype for Planet of the Apes. Ezra Stone's fine directing and a "great"
script make this episode a highlight for me as far as the third season goes.
A
few things to look for as you watch this episode. The Doodlebug head from
Treasure of the Lost Planet returns and is used as the judge in this episode.
Also look closely at the wall in the Warden's office and you will see a wanted
photo of Canto from Follow the Leader. Also a bunch of first season rifles
hang painted in different colors on the wall. And last but not least, Smith
and West are given first season silver boots at the end of the episode as a
gift for helping catch Creech.
